My very favorite band in the entire world, Faith No More, is going to be playing in Seattle. I bought tickets today,
which is when they went on sale. Oh boyoboyoboy. The first concert I ever saw was a FNM concert and it was probably the
best show I ever saw. The crowd was nearly devoid of macho idiots and other irritants. Mike Patton (Singer.) is truly an
amazing performer, and he is built to sing. At Beth's cafe a week or two ago I saw a crayon drawing someone had made of a character
wearing a Faith No More shirt. On the drawing someone had scribbled "Fuck that top 40 shit band" or something close to it. Top 40?
It's kinda hard to categorize a band that seems to try so hard to alienate its entire fan base every album or so.
My personal band also practiced today. Real quietly. Kris did not want the cops showing up again today, so we played at reduced volume.
It was a little like listening to ourselves on a slightly loud radio. Dull. We also recorded the entire rehearsal on tape. It came
out surprisingly well, considering that most of our previous attempts to record ourselves "live" came out sounding like an am radio plugged into
the same outlet as a running blender. The usual recording jitters infected us, though. Thats when you know your performance is being incised in iron (oxide)
(or black magnetite in some cases) and you start thinking too hard. "Don't fuck up, don't fuck up." Know what you do when you think stuff like that?
(Everyone gets this question right.) You fuck up. Hopefully if we ALWAYS record our rehearsals, we'll get used to having the recorder on and won't get all
ouchy.
