Reading Perdido Street Station. It's such a great book! I'm all hopped up about reading it! I know I'll want to read it again for the first time later! Which is impossible! So I'm really trying to get the most out of it now! Exclamation point! I think this is one of those books which people will still be into, 5 years out. I'd say it was an "instant classic", but I'm trying to be judicious in my use of clichés.

Uhhh... I can't write as well as this guy. I'm pretty sure I can't even think as well. Stupid good writers. Makin' me look bad. YEAH YOU TOO, PAUL FORD!

Well that's all right. I'll get right back to composing some smurf music here. Yessirree, I sure like pipe organ... and tubas. Aaaaand MARIMBAS oh boy do I love marimbas. Whenever I get down on myself about using too many marimbas, I just think of smiling Danny Elfman!

I'm now carrying my little notebook around. Carrying a little beat-up notebook with stickers all over it is like having a ticket to the pretention express. If I sneak this guy into a capitol hill coffee shop, I'm entitled to four hours of sitting in a streetside chair, one leg resting on the other, scribbling importantly. Sometimes people will casually find a way to glance at what I'm up to, in case I'm sketching them. Really, I'm just drawing toasters and Mr. Doinksquirt and trying to write a song about Pants. ("Pants: Get Em Off Me!")
