Hmm. Time to get myself in trouble.

Well, I've had this houseguest for the past few days, a girl by the name of Le'a. She is one of the people who have been instrumental in keeping the band together. She acts as referee to our disagreements, counselor to our clashing egos, and flunky to do stuff that we don't want to do. Also, everyone seems to be attracted to her. That causes problems from time to time, I suppose.

You see, Le'a had been hot for Kris, the bass player, for several years. Kris is kind of awkward around women, even though they fall all over him. Nothing happened between them up until 3 months before Kris moved to Seattle (10 days before I moved to Portland). Prior to those months, she pined, sent gifts, and generally did all those self sacrificing favors that one does when one is obsessed with someone. (One muses that one has no room to point fingers.) Kris finally wised up (or something. The exact motives at work are a mystery.) and started going out with her and what not 3 months before he left. This left them with a long distance relationship with no obvious resolution. Le'a had to stay in Hawaii, and Kris doesn't want to move back. (And he better not.) After many months of general angst and loneliness, Lea decided to break up with him, because she thought that she was keeping him in a relationship that he didn't want. (He never called, wrote, etc) Kris wasn't happy with this. But eventually he got over it. He no longer felt the same about her after a week or so.

Now, Le'a has arrived up here in Seattle for a two week visit, and has been residing here at my Dad's house, since staying at Kris' would obviously be very uncomfortable for both of them. No funny stuff goes on between us; the time during which I was confused about where we stood with each other is LONG past. What we are to each other is a general angst sink, and source of affection. (And strange behavior oracle. "Why do women..." "Why does Kris..." Heh.) Yeah, this is the same Lea who sort of turned half the band against me once. All I can say about that is: "I won."

  Conflict
--- Well, now that she's up in Seattle, she tells me that she wants to go out with Kris again, long distance or no. She'd wait two years for him and all that. She's very determined, it's already been 3 years from the beginning of her obsession, she'd do it. Thing is, Kris has already told her that his feelings have changed and he doesn't feel the same towards her anymore. Kris also hangs out with a certain Julie a lot, bringing forth a side of Le'a that I haven't seen since Kris was hung up on Monica (long story). Jealousy. Evil bad jealousy. Throat slitting, bunny-boiling, satanic jealousy.

So, what I've done tonight is take Le'a to Kris' house in a situation where a lot of people were over to make things nice and comfortably unfocused. As the night wore on, people ducked out one at a time. Finally, it was just Me, Kris, and Lea in Kris' room, good naturedly blabbering about miscellaneous. Sensing the right moment, I excused myself downstairs to eat some leftover pizza, taking "The Wake" (Last Sandman book) with me for entertainment. I sat around downstairs playing with the magnetic poetry on the refrigerator and eating. An hour or so later, the two entanglees come down, and they seem to be getting along pretty well. Le'a sits down in front of me while Kris is in the kitchen and says "I'm going to be staying here tonight, we have a LOT to talk about." Hmmm! She got all apologetic, too. She felt really bad about letting me go on home alone. The guilt was touching, but unnecessary, and I told her so. Kris, of course, only has one small bed. There's a couch and all, but my gut is going "couch? yeah right." and then it goes "that pizza wasn't that great. oog."

I'm friends with both of them. From Lea's point of view, the objective was to get Kris to go out with her again. I haven't spoken to Kris about this yet, but if he didn't want the relationship, from his point of view the objective would be to make Lea stop acting so weird towards him and just be a 'normal' friend. What does Andrew want? Hmm. Andrew wants a job. And maybe a change of batteries.

  Persistence
--- Hmmm. Was it a good idea to post all that? I don't want evil girls to discover Lea's secrets to use against her. Hmm. Nope. Can't think of anyone who I'd worry about in the world. Okay. Posting.

Dammit, I should get my own problem girlfriend to write about. Where do you go to meet pretty psychopaths? Hmm? I'm already IN a band. I guess we should start gigging. But I need a job first, psychopaths are pretty expensive to go out with.

Oh! They're BONES! I was just thinking "Hey...fish aren't supposed to have HAIR..." -Kris eating salmon for apparently the first time
