[WHATWell, I've learned a few things about Gameboy Advance programming. You can't tell from this picture, but it's also playing a very annoying song, over and over. In my mind, that's a successful first day of development. I didn't meet my actual goal for this evening's programming experiment, which was to get the GBA to say "WASSAAAAAAAAP?!". There's just not much documentation on how channels A and B (the DMA-capable digital sound channels) work. Brett managed to get a sort of repetitive clicking noise going by repeatedly copying sound data directly into the FIFO, but you're really supposed to set up the hardware registers to point the the sound data, set the timer, and let it fill its own FIFO. That's alright. It says "FART" on the screen, I'm going to sleep.
