0:31or, "Everything I own, I bought in kindergarten":
Surprise! Egghead software hadn't charged my card until the last item shipped! When I checked my balance today, for the first time in a couple of weeks, I discovered that my checking account contained about $40. This means that I don't actually have sufficient money to pay for rent and food for 2.5 months. It will cover rent and food for approximately 1.2 days. If I ignore rent, I can actually eat all month, but I was certainly surprised when I read that balance, and again when I called account management.
I'm surprised I didn't throw up.
So, the earnest search for a job within the next two months becomes a frantic scramble to get a job in the next few days. Electricity, phone, internet, bank account, house. Those bills come every month. I have anough to pay for the phone, if I don't eat.
Perhaps I can sell some of my things? I'd definately take a huge loss, and I might not even be able to cover rent, anyway. The plan is to get a job. I can also try and get severance pay out of my old employer, depending on what WA state law is like.
Still, I have this sensation of plummeting.
"Have you ever fallen from grace, Andrew? It's just like falling off a tall building. You keep going faster and faster until nothing can stop you but the end." - Older me to younger me in a dream, last year.
Everyone thinks I can get a new job, no problem. Well, at least I hope it's everyone. Going to talk to Amazon tomorrow.
