- in which andr00 gets back from San Francisco 3:13 a m Well I just put 2000 miles on my car over the weekend. Not driving around greenlake 600 times, either. I went down to San Francisco, CA and came back. When I'm on one of those long distance drives, I think about how people moved across land masses in the past several centuries, and how long it would take for someone to go the same distance in a horse buggy, or one of those covered wagon trains. It isn't the car that is the impressive part, either. Pathway technology has come a long way since roads were just plantless strips over the landscape where footsteps wore away the obstacles. When I'm punching through the atmosphere at 85 mph, I realize how important extremely flat, slightly pliant surfaces are to transportation. This becomes obvious when you hit a cobblestone road at, say, 35. I spent today kind of normalizing after traveling and being around people so much over the weekend. Not doing much. Ripping CDs to mp3. Cleaning out the car. Eating the ham. (I took away a brunch ham after the screening of Helen's friend's award-winning documentary on graveyards and burial traditions.) Found out my friend ChrisK has been living in Seattle this whole time, working at mu-soft. I haven't spoken to him since his graduation, at which time he declared his interest in acting. I'm guessing he's not an actor at uSoft. It will be cool to see what he's up to. Perhaps updating the liver-munching game. I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired. I'll just go sleep that off. And then tomorrow get everything done. yup. especially the kitchen. (still) d_check_auto: Entry 5102/521102.html needs Prev Entry 5102/521102.html needs Next
