Food Griday |
8:17 pm
Good Friday! HA! I get to go home at 2 pm now, due to my non-tech status. Do you want to know what they decided
my job title would be? No? It's "HTML Programmer/Programmer". I got to define the requirements for the job
too, they now resemble my resume. So I'm eminently qualified for the job! It's like when someone declares a race
in which you're already miles ahead. (like, for instance, when it became extremely important to know how to use computers.)
The Aloha Net site is up. I carefully copied it over yesterday. The interactive designers
crammed a few too many nifty extras in that front page, though. Shockwave, Javascript, and Real Audio? Um... Kind of time bomb
sounding, isn't it? Oh well. On to the next project. Javawave. Shockscript. Corn dog.

LibCGI |
I went around looking for CGI libraries for C. I found a couple. I hate them. Imagine a function which let's you accomplish the same
thing as printf("Content-type: text/html\n\n");, only instead you'd use print_mimeheader("text/html");.
OOOOOOOOOoooooooooh. Thank goodness for modern conveniences! I'm going to write my own god damn CGI libraries. Oh! The reason I was
doing this today is: since no one in the web department knows how to program in C, no one bothered to get any decent C CGI libraries.
(Of course, we have the latest, greatest Perl5 CGI libs.) I don't know when I'm going to actually do this library programming.
I'll just do it as I go. At home I'm busy trying to cram assembly language graphics programming into my head. Bresenham is fast, and fast is good.

I'm so lonely |
So, since I got out of work so early, I went wandering in Portland for 6 hours. I still haven't made any friends locally. I don't know how.
All the friends I had in Hawaii, I met through other friends. I don't know any friends here. How is it that people meet each other, anyway?
This is difficult. I guess I could walk up to people and say "Hi." In fact, I did that this morning. Then they say "Hi." and I'm not
really sure where to go from there. "I'm a demented loner. Be my friend?" Nah. "So... you know enough people yet?" Nah.
Maybe I'll go to a convention or something. Yeah. I'll go to NAID, in november. (NAID is a convention in which computer ultra geeks
show off their programming skills. I would just be there to gape.) I'm jealous of Kim. She's going to The Gathering 97. Kind of
like NAID, but more Amiga oriented, in Europe, and closer to the heart of the scene.
