Today Brett stopped by and gave me a present: an Intel USB camera. Color! We then spent an hour playing with it. I really have no complaints. I got it free. Looking at myself in color really brings out how gritty and dirty it looks when I haven't shaved in a couple days. In low light, video noise makes everything looks dirtier and grosser. Especially me.

Of course, there will be a brief period during which I take pictures of everything in the immediate area. The near field view is quite good, actually. I know many applications for pictures of small things from close up. The black dot visible in the above picture is not a big mole or anything...
It is, in fact, a black dot of ink which I put on my finger after testing the close-up capability and discovering that you can make your finger look like some kind of weird duck by drawing eyes on it.
