Part of the whole web person thing is the abliity to put up fairly readable pages very quickly. So, I guess I'm going to practice on this journal, because the only time I have to update it now is the 15 minutes in the morning between waking up and taking a shower. It's 7 am now. Wheee. Weirdly enough, every single day I have set my alarm to wake me up at 7, I've woken up at about 6:54. This is after months of waking up at 3 pm. No lag shift period... luck.
They gave me a new desk and computer at work. Now I have a very nice desk. However, I also got a very lousy computer, relatively. It's a compaq something or other, probably a pent/75 with no CD-ROM and a dinky ~700 Meg HD. I'm supposed to do web dev on that? Yuh huh. Of course, for about half an hour when I started, they put me on the 3-D workstation, which has 2 Pentium Pro 200s in it... well, that was fun while it lasted. Anyway my new desk is much different from my tech desk. No garbage, for one. Also, I'm looking straight out the window. And there's a hub right behind it. Hubs contain noisy fans, but it beats my old desk in HAwaii. I was sitting next to 3 TCR racks, each with 9 fans. Imagine answering phone calls in a 747 mid-flight.
Current schedule: Wake up. Take shower go to work. Do worky things for 13 hours. Go home. Fall asleep. repeat if desired. This is kind of a loony schedule. And I'm only getting paid more because it is overtime. How to get a raise? Change my job title. Some rules about job titles: If your job title contains "Specialist" add $5 to your salary. For "Technical" add $10. (note that technical support's official job title is "Dialup Access Specialist") For "Internet" add $10. For "Manager" , add $100. And if your title is only made of letters, add $1000. Oh. Administrators, see "Specialist".
Well. That's it for personal project time. I'll be back later. Due to this work situation, I'll probably only have time to try new layouts on weekends. Well, I'll figure out something workable and stick with it starting march.
