23:21La la lalala la la:
Early in the morning I started humming a little tune. The tune was one I had heard enough in earlier life that it had ressurected itself in my head sans-stimulus (unless it was a leftover from an unremembered dream). Suddenly I knew some of the words. Enough to know where it was from and what it was called. I knew enough to keep it in my head for hours and hours.
So at work, during lunch, still having this goddamn song stuck in my head, I turn to the web for help. And then... I found it. So, for the rest of lunch hour I'm going through The Sesame St. Lyrics Archive grinning like an idiot and singing songs about various letters of the alphabet, such as Thinking of U, the Rebel L, and the platinum single C is for Cookie.
Everything I think I know about music probably came from one sesame street song or another. When I was little, I always thought there was something very profound about the Capital I song. Really! "We all live in a capital I, in the middle of the desert, in the center of the sky..." It's like a Queen song. I'm going to wind up buying these sesame street CDs one day. They don't have the good songs on them, though. No "That's about the size of it". Woe!
Now I want to write to the Rhonda that owns the site to find out where she got the song from. Memory? Hidden tapes? Must find out! I bet she gets a hundred email every day from people asking the same thing, though.
