  Death March, Baby

I can't seem to shut up about Chu chu rocket. When I went to tell brett about this weird little commercial for the obscure game I had become obsessed with, his reply read: "Yeah, we've been anticipating Chu Chu Rocket for some time. Bobby has a great colorful bitmap that he is using as his desktop background. The game looks to be very Rocky X Hopper ish in terms of wackiness. It is made by the same people who do the Sonic games." So he's known about it for a while. Video game wackiness is something that Brett and I seem to agree on, or at least be on the same wavelength about. Go damn it. Chu chu rocket, Let's rescue the mice.

Fun: Rinsing mouth out with PLAX red dental rinse and spitting a big colorful wash of dark red into the sink afterward. Not fun: Rinsing, then brushing your teeth afterward and spitting a big colorful wash of dark red into the sink afterward. worry worry worry

New books: The OpenGL programming guide 3rd edition (had to special order it), The O'Reilly HTML book 3rd edition (The last HTML book I had was the first edition of this from three years ago. I've been putting off getting this one because a) I don't care if there's a new form of <BLINK> (i.e. marquee, the hover property) and b) I feel really mainstream buying an HTML book. Maybe a freelance web designer will sense the bond between us and mistakenly start talking to me. Buying the OpenGL programming guide offset a little of the shame, but the OpenGL API makes 3d stuff so easy I feel a little posery using it, too.) , Death March (a management book about surviving "suicide mission" projects. i.e. every large scale project), and Javina got me "Girlfriend in a Coma" by Douglas Coupland, which she thinks is his best ever. I dunno what to read first. I'll have a full queue during my vacation in winter.

I got these books at the U-Village mall, sort of a little slice of Bellevue inserted into the U-district. In the computer section there was this guy there with a laptop on a desk, using, or whatever you call what "user" level users do. He had no books with him. I assume people don't cook in the cooking section. That is not a good comparison, though. People use laptops in public all the time. All right, do people start praying in the religion section? Do they question their validity in the philosphy section? ...Okay, those probably do happen. Do they barf in the homeopathy section (or what is the deal with that)? Do they, uh, jog through the exercise/health section? No! There's no good reason to be using your laptop at the bookstore other than to show off that you can use your laptop in the book store.

I know, maybe he was writing an account of being in a bookstore. Ha ha, what a stupid idea!! Oh wait.
