Right now, I'm staying, for free, at a total stranger's house. This morning, when I woke up, they had made me a christmas stocking, filled with
gifts that they thought I would like. They fed me a massive home cooked christmas feast, and have kept me about their house, included in their party, chatting
and gaming with me as if I were a trusted acquaintance. wow, huh?
And most of the people here tonight were Irish, like, from Ireland. They have that accent and vocabulary. They call any group of their friends "the lads". Me and Helen were "the lads".
It's hard not to be charmed. This is the first Christmas I've spent away from the home in Hawaii in many years, but I feel deprived of nothing. These are good people. Oh, and I saw Beanie! But she was too sick
to come to this party, though she was invited. Argh my back. I've been social all day and it's time to sleep.
Tomorrow: ham sandwiches
Note to self: When playing "taboo" with folks with Irish accents, note that they say the word "liar" a lot like how I'm used to saying "lawyer". Ditto geyser/geezer. Don't beep them on these words until it is obvious what they said.
