the cat's in the bag and the bag's in the river!

Man, I think I just saw a dead body. I was walking up Denny on my way to Kinkos (Kinko's? Is there a guy named Kinko who runs the place?) to pick up a new rev of the MD manual. I noted a lot of flashing lights at the corner, and cars stopped in unusual places around the intersection. There were people stopped in little clusters, gawking despite the rain and awkwardness. "Did he just die?" I heard someone ask. Then I passed the line of stopped cars and saw the body of a large man, face down on the wet asphalt, streetcenter. Emergency Medical type Technician guys were standing around, one of them arranging waterproof tarps over the body. They didn't seem to be in a big hurry, attempting to resuscitate or whatever it is you do when someone's not working. I went inside to get my manual. The counter worker had no clue as to what was going on outside. When I left, they had loaded the guy into a red Medic One ambulance-like thing and the watchers had dispersed. The emergency vehicles departed slowly. One emitted a burst of siren as it started, but the driver immediately silenced it. All that was left at the scene were police officers and a guilty looking BMW.

So that's how we all end up. One day you're sitting in you're room, waiting for your machinedrum OS to upgrade, the next you're a heap of biological garbage that someone else has to pick up and/or scrape off their bavarian radiator (death american-style).

Meanwhile, I'm watching my LEDs light up as code paths are revised, gates reprogrammed, and bytes received. Thank god.
