GREYNETIC FLU
  Multiscan Mushrooms and Meat
3 fucking Oh 3 am
--- Things that happened in the last 4 days:
  • Foad died and was brought back up in record time.
  • I saw an interesting UFO while waiting for the bus in the U-district
  • I formatted Nerve and reinstalled everything, which now works.
  • I had some kind of bad flu or something which kept me in the house
It is lucky indeed that the first and third items were not simultaneous, else I would have had to wait until foad's HD came back from the recovery guy.

Foad died: Foad died, I lost some email, a couple files, and this web server went down. Inconvenient, but not really damaging to me. I haven't paid anything to the guy who maintains foad, so I am surprised at how well it is maintained. (The guy who maintains foad is named "Chad", and he brought his army men to tech support in hawaii to break up the monotony)

I saw a UFO: While waiting for the bus in the U-district, I turned to face north and saw what looked like several strings of yellow christmas tree lights moving horizontally (east) across the sky. Each string had a bright light at the eastern end and several dimmer lights trailing. There seemed to be a cluster of these little light chains moving at slightly different speeds, underneath cloud cover at about 30 degrees elevation from horizon. The first thing I thought was "Hey, it's a bunch of geese in formation flying south!" I then spent a few minutes wondering where they got the headlights, or how they caught on fire. Later, I found out that it was on the news, and apparently it's in the newspaper today, but I haven't read it yet.

I formatted Nerve: I was getting annoyed at the decay of functionality that comes with a year of windows 95 without reinstalling, so I reinstalled. Everything works again, even my 3Dfx and sound cards. I have the same tools installed that I did before, but somehow I have 9 times more space.

I had a bad flu: It kept me in the house a couple days. It sucked. I think I'm getting over it.

No, I can go on like this for minutes
--- Things that happened today: I realized that formatting C: included erasing my ancient and never touched Microsoft Exchange mailbox. This mailbox contained correspondence from shortly after I bought this computer. Lots of weird stuff happened, but I won't remember it any more because the letters are gone now. I remembered to back up my Eudora mailboxes, though. Anyone that got on my bad side after 6-22-96 will never be forgiven.

Things that I thought about today: I like fruit punch, even though it sometimes contains hexametaphosphate.

I also had this feeling as if I had recently had a deep intellectual experience, like reading part a book that I knew would never end, or seeing the rest of my (future) life acted out on TV. I can't remember seeing anything that interesting recently. The most intellectually challenging thing I've read in the last 3 days is Silly Cat Comix.

Ooh, I just realized how much I didn't have backed up. I had pretty much my entire NEW site backed up, but all my oldsite stuff is gone. Oh well. The recovery guys will probably dredge some of it up. There's the odd thingie missing, too. hmm. I'm too tired right now to get everything working. I'll do it tomorrow after I visit a studio or two.

Note: While restoring all these files from my home-based backups, I came across a prototype layout of what is now my main page, but instead of different words, all that was there was "blah blah blah blah blah blah blah" filling up all the space. I kind of like that one better than the real one. It makes me want to fill up five or six pages of a page like this with "blah blah blah blah...".
