I had another job interview today. It went well, but I know I am up against stiff competition. There are still very talented people
knocking around the unemployed programmer pool, and coming up against someone who has had the time to get their degree in something, along
with many years of experience in something incredibly relevant is more common than it used to be. Nevertheless, I have a lot of work experience in things
that come up a lot in workplaces. And I'm basically hilarious, though I didn't put that on my resume. My interview was on the phone, and exactly as the phone started ringing,
the upstairs neighbors began vacuuming with what sounded like a lawnmower. It must have been some bizarre floor cleaner to be audible through the cement floor/ceiling.
So that's what I started off my interview with ("Yeah, this is a great time, though my upstairs neighbors are suddenly addicted to vacuuming") and it was fairly relaxed and
friendly. Nice guy interviewed me. Next week: me vs. Smartiac, in person!
Music night tonight: Kris came over, we collected the tunes we've written over the past six months onto one CD for car listening and lyric trials. There are 25 - that looks like a lot of work!
Surely we can pare them down to a dozen and complete the lyrics, making a full length CD to purvey at performances.
My world rocks under buffeting from personal-level stresses. Meanwhile, there's a nuclear power that's putting up posters like this.
I'm just going to act, for a while, like my problems are big n' important. I'm also going to go to sleep right now and try to preserve what little ground I've gained into diurnal scheduling.
